If you or your child have been struggling with focus, organization, emotion regulation, or follow-through, you may be wondering whether ADHD could be part of the picture. Maybe teachers have raised concerns, or you’ve noticed patterns that don’t seem to improve despite your best efforts. You might see constant fidgeting or daydreaming, difficulty starting or finishing tasks, or frequent emotional outbursts over small frustrations. For others, the signs are quieter — mental overload, forgetfulness, procrastination, or feeling like life always takes more effort than it should.
You’re not alone—and you don’t have to keep guessing.
At Eckert Psychology & Education Centre, our Calgary-based psychologists provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for children, teens, and adults across Alberta. Our process brings clarity, direction, and hope—so you can move from frustration and confusion to confidence and a clear plan forward.
Why Consider an ADHD Assessment?
Many families delay seeking assessment, hoping the challenges will “even out.” But without clarity, the struggle often continues: children fall behind in school, teens battle motivation and self-esteem, and adults silently wonder why life feels harder than it should.
At Eckert Centre, we take a neurodiversity-affirming approach—recognizing that ADHD isn’t a flaw, but a difference in how the brain is wired. The goal isn’t to “fix” you or your child—it’s to understand your unique profile of strengths and challenges so that strategies, supports, and environments can help you thrive.
An ADHD assessment can help you:
- Understand the why behind attention, learning, or emotional-regulation struggles
- Clarify whether ADHD, anxiety, learning differences, or executive-function issues are involved
- Gain a detailed roadmap for school, home, or work accommodations
- Access supports that build confidence and success over time
- Celebrate what is beautiful about your mind
Who the Assessment Is For?
We assess children, teens, and adults—each with unique needs and goals:
Children (Ages 6–12)
If your child’s teacher mentions focus, behaviour, or learning concerns—or your child works hard yet still falls behind—an ADHD or learning-disability assessment can uncover how their brain processes information and where supports will make the biggest impact.
Teens (Ages 13–18)
Adolescence brings greater independence and pressure. Many teens experience increasing frustration with organization, time-management, and motivation. An assessment helps them understand themselves, improve confidence, and learn strategies that actually fit how their brain works.
Adults (18 +)
Many adults reach their 20s, 30s, or 40s before realizing ADHD might explain lifelong struggles with attention, overwhelm, emotion regulation, and procrastination. Gaining clarity often brings tremendous relief and practical tools for career, relationships, and daily functioning.

Cost, Timelines & Insurance Coverage
We believe in transparency about fees and value:
- Comprehensive ADHD/Mental Health Assessment: $2,143.75 CAD (based on $245/hour)
- Duration: Typically completed over several sessions, including intake, testing, scoring, feedback, and report writing (approximately 8.75 hrs)
- Report turnaround: About 2 weeks after the feedback session
- Insurance coverage: Most extended health plans cover psychological services by a Registered Psychologist. Coverage varies by plan (e.g., $500–$2,000 per person per year).
- Tax benefits: Psychological services are eligible for the Medical Expense Tax Credit in Canada.
Tip: Ask your insurer:
- “Do my benefits cover psychological assessments?”
- “Is a referral required?”
- “Is there an annual or per-session cap?”
If you’re using employer-provided insurance, combining two calendar years of benefits can make the process more affordable—especially for late-year bookings. This makes assessments booked in November, December and January very popular for families.
After the Assessment: From Clarity to Action
The written report is just the beginning. Your psychologist will:
- Help you understand the results in everyday language
- Provide a personalized plan for school or workplace accommodations
- Recommend follow-up supports such as therapy, coaching, or skill-building programs
- Celebrate your strengths and reframe ADHD as part of your brain’s unique design
At Eckert Centre, we don’t simply hand you a report—we walk beside you as you take the next steps.
