My Approach to Therapy:
I believe that hope is powerful, and that meaningful change becomes possible when you feel safe, understood, and supported. You may come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to move forward. My role is to offer a calm, compassionate, and skilled presence where you can slow things down, explore what you’re carrying in a shame-free way, and reconnect with clarity and inner strength. My approach is relational and trauma-informed, shaped by my prior career as a Registered Nurse and by evidence-based therapies that support awareness of thoughts, emotions, felt senses, and internal patterns -- without assuming there is a “right” way to think, feel, or express yourself. Together, we gently explore what gets in the way of feeling grounded or connected, and how you can respond to life with greater intention rather than feeling driven by stress, emotion, or old habits. Therapy is paced to your nervous system and honours your unique ways of thinking, sensing, communicating, and making sense of the world. Sessions are collaborative and flexible, with room to adapt structure, language, and tools so that therapy works with your strengths and needs rather than against them. I often support people navigating: Anxiety and stress or burnout Grief and loss Life transitions Relationship challenges (especially parenting!) Pregnancy and postpartum Emotional regulation Chronic or complex health challenges Neurodiversity-affirming supports Questions of identity, meaning, or purpose If you wish to integrate faith into your counselling, I offer faith-based therapy from a Christian perspective. Faith is never assumed and therapy is always guided by your comfort, values, and goals. I also aim to create a safe space for questions, doubt, or experiences of spiritual struggle.
Training & Clinical Experience:
I hold a master’s degree in psychotherapy and have training in trauma-informed, emotion and nervous system-focused approaches, as well as mindfulness-based modalities. My professional experience spans healthcare, academic, and community settings, supporting a holistic understanding of how emotional, relational, physical, and life-context factors intersect. My work emphasizes the freedom that comes from understanding how the nervous system shapes emotional responses, relationships, and a sense of self. I have pursued specialized training in integrating body, brain, and nervous system awareness with meaning-making and practical tools -- supporting you in understanding both what your body needs to feel safe and what gives your life direction, integrity, and purpose. This integrated approach allows space for difference and honours the many ways people regulate, process, and engage with the world. I prioritize meeting you where you are and offering care that feels both practical and deeply human. I also engage in ongoing professional development to ensure my work remains grounded in current research and best practices.
A Bit About Me:
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, mountain biking, and spending time at the soccer pitch with my husband, cheering on our three children.
Favourite Quote:
“How we relate in the inner world will be how we relate in the outer. If we can appreciate and have compassion for our parts, even for the ones we’ve considered to be enemies, we can do the same for people who resemble them. On the other hand, if we hate or disdain our parts, we’ll do the same with anyone who reminds us of them.”
Richard C. Schwartz, No Bad Parts
