More Fun With Sisters
More Fun with Sisters and Brothers © is a research-based, fun and interactive four part series for young siblings. We are very excited to be the first Centre selected by the research team at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to launch this program in Canada! Helping young siblings get along with each other is one of the most challenging aspects of parenthood. The reality is that the overall quality of family life is significantly influenced by the degree to which the children in a family enjoy each other’s company.
More Fun with Sisters and Brothers© is an empirically based program that teaches siblings to solve conflicts in positive ways. This relieves parents from the ongoing necessity of constantly intervening to help regulate their children’s behaviours in emotionally charged situations. As children learn and become proficient in the skills taught, the degree of parent intervention required decreases. Parent attendance is required to ensure parents understand the skills being taught and can actively reinforce their practice long after camp is over. As well, a team member from Eckert Centre will complete a home visit after camp to support you and your children further in using the tools for building positive sibling relationships.
To ensure opportunities for individual support and in-depth conversation, only 4 family spots (to a maximum of 8 children in the small group altogether) are available.
For maximum instruction and training we request that only one parent be present during the session.
This seminar is most appropriate for parents whose children are 4 to 8 years old (if the older sibling is 9 years plus, we can discuss possible ways to include your family in this program. Please contact us directly).
