Designation and experience: I am a Registered Psychologist (CAP #2978). I have completed a Bachelor of Christian Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology. I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist. Prior to embarking on this career, I worked in the fields of administration and health care. I have been part of the Eckert Centre team since 1998. Currently, most of my work focuses on counseling, although I also conduct learning assessments. Within the organization, I oversee Client Services, including supervising our psychology team.
What inspires you? Over the years that I have worked in this field, I have been inspired by the individuals and families that I work with. I am moved by their honesty, bravery, vulnerability, and commitment to growth, and I am humbled by the trust they place in me to support them in their journey. I am also inspired by the opportunities I have to witness first-hand, the brain’s capacity to heal itself from emotional injuries through EMDR. To see people truly find peace, freedom, and resolution is absolutely awe-inspiring!
What are your proudest accomplishments? I would have to say that completing three degrees (starting when I was 26…a late bloomer!) is my proudest accomplishment! I never enjoyed school and swore that I would never go back when I graduated from high school. It is a wonderful reminder to me that when we have a purpose (and a calling), motivation follows.
What are your hobbies and interests? My primary “love language” is quality time, so I enjoy spending free time with my loved ones! Fun for me includes playing games (especially Canasta!), trips to the mountains, anything involving water, family get-togethers, travel, and dates with my nieces and nephews. I exercise my creative spirit through card-making, and I spend a lot of time at the gym as part of my commitment to healthy living. I am actively involved in my church and enjoy singing on our “worship team.”
Why do you think people should choose Eckert Centre? I am very honored to work with such a talented group of people who are also people of integrity and fine character. Although ethically we are not permitted to provide service to our co-workers, I would personally choose Eckert Centre for service if I could. In addition, as Client Services Director, I have the opportunity to read evaluations completed by clients and I regularly read applause for our administrative team who exude warmth to our clients. This is a team who truly “shares the light of hope and courage” with clients, which is just what a person needs when they are going through difficult times.
